Creating from a Blank Form

Creating a booking note by entering the details directly, rather than working from a document or an email.

How to do it

1. Select + New Request from the Overview page or the Requests list.
2. Select Create New.
3. The booking note form opens, empty apart from the fields that are pre-filled.
4. Complete the form section by section.
5. Select Save & Exit to keep the work and finish later, or Submit to send it for review.

What is filled in automatically

The form is not entirely blank. The current organization is filled in and locked, and a few fields carry sensible defaults:

The remaining participant — Freight Forwarding Agent for a Shipper, Shipper for a Freight Forwarder — has to be selected. See General Information.

No document alongside the form

Because there is no document or email behind a manually created booking note, the form takes the full width of the screen with no source panel beside it. This is expected. Booking notes created by upload or email show their source alongside the form. See Booking Note Form.

Filling in the form

Work through the sections in order. Each has its own page:

1. General Information — participants, references and commercial terms
2. Sailing Information /en/booking-notes-module/booking-note-form/sailing-information) — route and dates
3. Containers and Cargo /en/booking-notes-module/booking-note-form/containers-cargo) — equipment and goods

Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk. Every field is listed in What Each Field Means.

Saving as work progresses

A manually created booking note stays in Draft until it is submitted. Draft notes are fully editable, and Save & Exit returns to the list with the work kept. The note can be picked up again from the Requests list at any time.

A booking note does not have to be completed in one sitting. Mandatory fields are only enforced at submission. See How to Submit a Booking Note.
